Meryl Herr
Hi! My name is Meryl. I am a nonprofit consultant and an author, and I am glad that you found your way here.
I've been a nonprofit consultant for a little over a decade, serving primarily faith-based organizations, including colleges and universities. I specialize in program planning and evaluation, and I've started getting my feet wet in strategic planning. You can learn more about my consulting work here.
I love writing, and someday I would love to have a house by the ocean and another in the mountains where I write books that deeply move people. For now, I sit at a local coffee shop or at my desk and crank out the occasional Substack post.
My first book, When Work Hurts, hit shelves in March 2025. I wrote this book to help us find solidarity and strength in the wake of experiencing emotional, relational, and spiritual pain in our daily work.
I earned a B.S. in Math and Spanish from Vanderbilt University and an M.Div. and Ph.D. (Educational Studies) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. I also completed a Graduate Certificate in Educational Research Methods through the University of Illinois-Chicago.
I'm represented by the lovely Keely Boeving of Wordserve Literary.
I live near Athens, Georgia with my husband and two sons. I wish I could list some hobbies, but I have two kids who play travel soccer. My weekends belong to them.
